Educational Assessments

True Educational Assessments are rigorous, research-based tools that help us to better understand your child’s needs. We use a widely recognized instrument which tests reading, writing and mathematics skills in children of all ages.

Before one-on-one tutoring begins with your child, one of our professionals will administer an academic skills screen; our initial interview with you and your child, combined with the information gathered from the academic skills screening tool, saves hours of tutoring expenses by revealing the optimal starting point for one-on-one instruction.

Administration of the screening tool takes about 45 min to 1 hour and examines the following:
Reading: Word recognition and reading comprehension
Math: Computation and application problems
Written Expression: Written language and spelling

If you feel that your child needs more extensive testing, we have a comprehensive Educational Assessment administered at Raging Knowledge by Saylor Heidmann, a long-time education professional with appointments at the Yale Child Study Center and Albertus Magnus College.

The results of her testing, combined those from diagnostic tutorial sessions, are included in a full report which you may add to your child’s school record.

We must emphasize that the Educational Assessment is not a neuropsychological evaluation nor does it provide a diagnosis of any kind. If your child needs a neuropsychological evaluation, we are happy to refer you to some outstanding local clinicians.
