Special Education

Interpreting Neuropsychological and Psychoeducational Reports:

While most of these reports are well-written and thorough, parents and teachers often don’t have the time or expertise to sift through the important details that accurately describe a child’s learning profile and its impact on school success. We will demystify the report and help you and your child understand how the information explains the learning process. We will translate the information into a user-friendly Academic Action Plan which can be implemented by teachers and tutors alike.

Special Education Advocacy Services:

Did you know that special education laws have recently changed under the reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act, or IDEA 2004? Did you know that many education officials and teachers still don’t understand how the changes will affect the identification of students who are eligible for special education services?

Ela Mata, our President, and Tammy Moscrip, PhD, our most senior instructor, have been trained by the Learning Disabilities Association of CT to serve as an advocate for you and your child at Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings and in the drafting of Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
